How to carry OS in your pocket and use it any PC

Windows 8, the latest edition to Microsoft's OS evolution is making big waves in the PC arena. We are sure that many of you are eagerly waiting to try out the new Windows 8 Preview on your PCs, to have a first look and glimpse of what Microsoft has in store for you with the new operating system. Installing Windows 8 on your PC, which already has Windows 7 or Windows XP installed can be quite a task—backing up data, clearing space for the new OS, reinstalling, and so on. However, before that, the pain of burning the downloaded ISO file on a DVD or on a USB pen drive to get the installation ready also makes it a killing task. We shall show you how you can relax and enjoy the complete features of Windows 8 on your existing PC without going through any of the above cumbersome exercises and run the new operating system in less than half the time.

This How to will reveal the installation of Windows 8 on any USB storage and then running the operating system directly from the USB drive, itself. You will not have to go through any of the painful set-up procedures that the set-up installer asks, while installing Windows 8 on your PC. All you need to do is download a simple utility, a 16GB or higher USB storage drive, the Windows 8 ISO file, WinRAR archiver and your existing PC. Before we begin, we would like you to know that using a USB pen drive will suffice, but since the speed of a regular USB pen drive is very sluggish, we recommend using an external USB storage drive. 

Steps:-

To begin with, assuming you have a PC that already has Windows 7 running and WinRAR installed, extract the file ‘install.wim’ from the Windows 8 ISO file using WinRAR. This file will be located under the folder ‘Sources’ and is around 2GB in size. Extract it to the desktop. Now go ahead and download a tiny 500 KB utility, called ‘GimageX’ from the ‘http://tinyurl.com/gimagexv2’ and extract the file to a folder on your desktop. This folder will have both the 32-bit and 64-bit utility. Choose the appropriate one depending on the operating system that you are already running on your PC. Now, before we use the utility, we have to prepare the USB drive for installing Windows 8. Make sure you have all your data backed up from the drive, as we would need to clean out the drive completely. Proceed ahead when ready.

Android’s next version 4.4 named after Nestle’s chocolate treat, Android Kitkat.


The Next version of Android (Android 4.4) will be called Android Kitkat  and not Key Lime pie.

Google has made a deal  with Nestlé to use the name ‘KitKat’ for its next version of Android.
Despite the partnership, Google representatives were keen to point out that this was not a “money-changing-hands kind of deal”, although Nestle does plan to sell more than 50 million chocolate bars featuring the Android mascot on its wrapper. The KitKats will ship to 19 key markets including the UK, US, Brazil, India, Japan and Russia.
Another big announcement was made by Sunadar Pichai, Head of Android,
“We now have over 1 Billion Android activations and hope this guy in front of the building keeps that momentum going,” said Mr Pichai.

Engineered bacteria make fuel from sunlight

In a bid to find an substitute to fossil fuels as raw material for the chemical industry, scientists have engineered a bacteria which could help grow chemical precursors for fuels and plastics.

“Most chemical feedstocks come from petroleum and natural gas, and we need other sources,” assistant professor of chemistry at University of California, Davis and lead author on the study Shota Atsumi said.

Biological reactions are good at forming carbon-carbon bonds, using carbon dioxide as a raw material for reactions powered by sunlight,called photosynthesis, and cyanobacteria, also known as “blue-green algae,” have been doing it for more than 3 billion years, the Science Daily reported.

The challenge is to get the cyanobacteria to make significant amounts of chemicals that can be readily converted to chemical feedstocks.

With support from Japanese chemical manufacturer Asahi Kasei Corp., Atsumi’s lab at UC Davis has been working on introducing new chemical pathways into the cyanobacteria.

The researchers, working a step at a time, built up a three-step pathway that allows the cyanobacteria to convert carbon dioxide into 2,3 butanediol, a chemical that can be used to make paint, solvents, plastics and fuels.

“Because enzymes may work differently in different organisms, it is nearly impossible to predict how well the pathway will work before testing it in an experiment,” Atsumi said.

After three weeks growth, the cyanobacteria yielded 2.4 grams of 2,3 butanediol per liter of growth medium – the highest productivity yet achieved for chemicals grown by cyanobacteria and with potential for commercial development, Atsumi added.

Atsumi hopes to tune the system to increase productivity further and experiment with other products, while corporate partners explore scaling up the technology.

The US Department of Energy has set a goal of obtaining a quarter of industrial chemicals from biological processes by 2025.

The study was published in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

Communication has evolved massively in the recent past. From landline phones to e-mails, and text messaging, the world of telecommunication has now become an absolute essential part of our lives. Today, a switched off phone is the cause of frustration and often makes people feel handicapped.

An average cellphone can take atleast 6 to 7 hours to fully get charged. But now, a breakthrough by an 18-year-old science student might enable mobile phones and other batteries to be charged within seconds.

Saratoga-resident Eesha Khare made the breakthrough by creating a small super capacitor that can fit inside a cell phone battery and enable ultra-fast electricity transfer and storage, delivering a full charge in 20-30 seconds instead of several hours.

DC Design Avanti

DC Avanti is the first Indian designed sports car by DC Design, a firm headed by Dilip Chhabria. DC Design has previously been known as a tuner of other's vehicles; this will be their first foray into producing a complete automobile. Taking its name from the Studebaker Avanti of The Adventures of Tintin comics, it was unveiled at the 2012 Auto Expo Delhi as a two-seat sports car. It will initially be equipped with a mid-mounted, Ford-sourced, 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine producing 261 bhp, A Honda-sourced V6 version with 394 bhp is planned for future release. Transmission is a six-speed dual-clutch transmission. The Avanti weighs 1562 kg (3440 pounds, or mote than a Chevrolet Corvette), and features extensive use of aluminum. Its makers, who are based in Pune, claim the base model will hit 62 mph in less than seven seconds.Plans are to release the car for sale in 2013.The manufacturer plans to build 200 cars a year, hoping to raise output to 2000 cars a year in the future.
The DC Avanti is expected to be priced around INR 30 Lakhs, approximately $56,000 in US dollars.

DC Design Duster

DC Design is an Indian design firm from Mumbai which is noted for their concept cars and prototypes. The firm, founded in 1993, is headed by designer Dilip Chhabria, and under a contract with Ford Motor Company built the first Aston Martin AMV8 Vantage prototype featured at the 2004 Detroit Auto Show.

The company also builds custom special order vehicles such as a modified Porsche Cayenne coupe and a modified Rolls Royce coupe.In August 2006, the company announced a partnership with Eximstar, an ETA Group company, to build a 500,000-square-foot (46,000 m2) production facility in Dubai.The facility, scheduled to open in 2007, will produce custom luxury cars.

The electrons give you a negative static charge, and when you touched another object — such as your doorknob — the electrons would be transferred to that object, equalizing the charge. You’d experience this as a small shock when you touched the object.
