Tor browser and its integration in chrome...........

Why tor?

  • The Tor software protects you by bouncing your communications around a distributed network of relays run by volunteers all around the world: it prevents somebody watching your Internet connection from learning what sites you visit, it prevents the sites you visit from learning your physical location, and it lets you access sites which are blocked.

          Tor Browser Bundle for Windows (version 2.2.37-1)
  1. Now extract the application downloaded.
  2. Then you will find "Tor Browser" Folder.
  3. (Skip this step for Direct connection users).Open it and select start tor browser.exe then configure settings->network->proxy host,port etc.Save settings.
  4. Restart tor.
  5. Now vidalia connects and a new application called tor browser will open.
  • Integration into Chrome
  1. Add Switchysharp extension into chrome.
  2. Go to switchysharp(available on the right of address bar then click on it -> select options) in the extension,keep name like tor or something you wish.
  3. Go to socks host and type 127.0.0.1 and port as 9050(Host and Port may vary so verify them in the in vidalia(start tor browser.exe) in message log in socks listener port
  4. Keep socks v5.
  5. Now save configuration.
  6. For your convinence keep your office or school or college proxy with different names so that you can switch easily.
  • Integration into Torrent clients like Bittorrent
  1. Go to preferences->connections->Type.Then select SOCKS v5.
  2. Hostname,port as in the sockslistener in message log.
  3. Save settings,and restart the client.
  4. Now its ready.
  • Integration to IDM
  1. Go to IDM->Downloads tab.Select options.
  2. Then select proxy or socks tab.
  3. Now check "Use socks".Again same host,port,socks v5.
  4. Now you are Done......
